'Cross-dressing' politics

Premature? Moi?
I see that in a speech in California last night, Prime Minister Blair hailed the era of 'cross-dressing' politics. Maybe Mark Oaten's decision to announce he is not to stand in Winchester at the next general election last week was a little premature!

I don't think "cross-dressing" was the most appropriate term that could have been used.

And Mark Oaten obviously had to step down before he was pushed.

Your right on both counts Ellee. Oaten was told very clearly after the heavy losses in the local elections that he had to go; most notably in public by the former Lib-Dem leader on Winchester City Council.
How about "cross-pollinating" (is that how you spell it?)rather than "cross-dressing"?
