I am a publican by trade but I tend to blog perodically about contemporary British politics particularly from the perspective (or lack of perspective) that my position as the Cabinet member for Environment & Transport in the Conservative Administration at Southmmpton City Council affords me!

I don't think "cross-dressing" was the most appropriate term that could have been used.
And Mark Oaten obviously had to step down before he was pushed.
Your right on both counts Ellee. Oaten was told very clearly after the heavy losses in the local elections that he had to go; most notably in public by the former Lib-Dem leader on Winchester City Council.
How about "cross-pollinating" (is that how you spell it?)rather than "cross-dressing"?
